Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kayode Ariwoola, Retires.

“The 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has formally bowed out of service, marking the culmination of a illustrious judicial career.


Born on August 22, 1954, Justice Ariwoola reached the mandatory retirement age of 70, prompting his exit.

He was elevated to the Supreme Court bench on November 22, 2011, and subsequently became the substantive CJN on June 27, 2022, following the resignation of his predecessor, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

Justice Ariwoola’s retirement marks the end of an era in Nigeria’s judicial history.
