The Labour Party’s leadership, under Julius Abure, has requested an investigation into alleged financial mismanagement within the party.
The National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Arabambi, made this request on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee.
Specifically, they are calling for an investigation into Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and other notable figures, including Peter Obi, regarding the potential embezzlement and misappropriation of campaign funds.
Arabambi has dismissed statements made by Yesufu, describing them as an attempt to conceal alleged financial wrongdoing.
He also criticized her statements as an insult to the party’s leadership.
Furthermore, Arabambi alleged that Yesufu and her associates were acting under Peter Obi’s direction to defraud the party.
Additionally, Arabambi accused leaders of the Yoruba Social political organization, Afenifere – Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni – of retaining over N600 million in private accounts associated with Afenifere.
He claimed that these individuals were hired by Obi to engage in fraudulent activities, criminal conspiracy, and diversion of funds from the Labour Party’s presidential campaign.
The party’s leadership is committed to transparency and accountability and has called on the National Security Adviser and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the bank accounts associated with the alleged misconduct.
They also requested a thorough investigation into all accounts linked to Adebanjo, Osuntokun, and Ebiseni to determine the extent of their involvement in the alleged fraud.
