Dino Not Suspended: Ijumu LGA Exco Backs Senator Dino Melaye

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State has disowned a letter expelling Senator Dino Melaye from the party, describing it as a “forgery” and a “breach of the party’s constitution.

In a communique issued on September 13, 2024, the Ijumu PDP Local Government Executive Committee stated that the letter was concocted by external enemies of the party aiming to destabilize and remove Senator Melaye, who is the party’s leader in the state.

The communique, signed by the party’s officers, reiterated their unwavering commitment to the party’s constitution and guidelines. They emphasized that no Ward Ad hoc Congress was held in Ijumu LGA on July 27, 2024, and no LGA Congress was held to elect National Delegates.

The party executives also denied participating in the purported State Congress held in Lokoja on August 31, 2024, describing it as an “illegal gathering”.

“We challenge those behind this malicious plot to mention any anti-party activities by Senator Dino Melaye,” the communique read. “He has made significant contributions to the party, including paying for accommodation and staff salaries at the state headquarters, purchasing membership cards, and providing running costs.”

The Ijumu PDP Exco urged all party members in the area and Kogi State to disregard the purported expulsion and stand with Senator Melaye, who they described as a “staunch and loyal member of the party”.
