NEMA Provides Relief to Families of Jos Building Collapse Victims

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has extended a helping hand to the families of the victims of the July 12th, 2024 Saints Academy School building collapse in Jos North, Plateau State.
The agency delivered relief materials to 41 households through its North Central Zonal Office, aiming to provide comfort to the parents and guardians affected by the tragedy.
According to NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the relief materials were intended to offer succor to those impacted.
Represented by North Central Zonal Coordinator Mr. Eugene Nyelong, Mrs. Umar highlighted the agency’s swift response to the incident, activating search and rescue operations and evacuating trapped victims to nearby hospitals.
The Parents-Teachers’ Association (PTA) Chairman, Mr. Macben Onye, expressed gratitude to NEMA for the relief materials, acknowledging the support they would bring to the affected families.
Mr. Sabiyu Mohammed, a beneficiary who lost his son in the incident, also thanked NEMA and encouraged others to find strength in faith amidst adversity.
The relief materials, consisting of food items, were distributed directly to the victims at the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency’s office (PLASEMA). Key stakeholders, including the Red Cross, Federal Fire Service, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, were present to show their support.
