Nigerian Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Rescue 20 Hostages in Ongoing Offensive

Nigerian troops have neutralized four terrorists and rescued 20 kidnapped hostages in separate encounters in Niger and Kaduna States.
This significant breakthrough is part of the ongoing offensive against terrorism in the region.
On September 17, 2024, troops intercepted terrorists attempting to cross from Alawa Forest in Niger State to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State.
The ambush resulted in the elimination of two terrorists, while others managed to flee the scene. During the operation, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and three motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
In another operation, troops sprang an ambush against terrorists at Hayin Nakwakina village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The swift action neutralized two terrorists and subsequently restored normalcy to the village, which had been previously displaced by the terrorists.
The troops also recovered two motorcycles, a mobile phone, and machetes abandoned by the terrorists.
In a separate rescue operation, Nigerian troops responded to a distress call and saved 20 kidnap hostages who were abducted by terrorists along the Kwaga-Polewire wire axis of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A shootout overwhelmed the terrorists, and they ran for their lives.
The rescued hostages have since been reunited with their families.
The Nigerian Army has expressed gratitude for the continued support and cooperation of the public in providing credible information to the troops.
They reaffirmed their commitment to decisively curbing all acts of terrorism, insurgency, and economic sabotage in the country.
“We remain committed to protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians,” said a military spokesperson. “We appreciate the support of the public and urge them to continue providing us with credible information to aid our operations.”
