Nigeria Customs Service Zone C Records Significant Seizures

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit Zone C, has announced a substantial haul of contraband in two months.
The seized items, valued at over half a billion naira, were confiscated alongside additional revenues recovered from demand notices issued for various infractions.
The seized items include;
Pharmaceuticals: assorted tramadol brands and cough syrup containing codeine, lacking NAFDAC registration numbers, posing serious health risks to consumers, particularly youths.
Food Products: foreign spaghetti, smuggled foreign tomato paste, and dry donkey meat and skin.
Used Goods: used pneumatic tyres and second-hand clothing.
The seizures were primarily made along the Ewu-Okada/Benin expressways, thanks to credible intelligence gathering and strategic operations.
Comptroller Michael Ugbagu showcased the confiscated items to relevant regulatory agencies at the Government Warehouse in Edo.
The NCS Zone C covers the South-South and Southeast geopolitical zones.
Comptroller Michael Ugbagu expressed concern about the potential harm the seized pharmaceuticals could have caused, especially among young people.
He emphasized the unit’s commitment to protecting national security, public health, and the economy through rigorous customs enforcement.
