Anambra State Government has made a significant announcement regarding the payment of the new minimum wage and expansion of its free education policy.
Starting October 2024, the state will begin paying its workers a new minimum wage of N70,000.
This development was shared by Governor Chukwuma Soludo during a meeting with principals and head teachers of public primary and secondary schools at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka.
In addition to the new minimum wage, Governor Soludo also announced the extension of the free education policy to senior secondary students in all public schools across the state.
This expansion builds upon the existing policy covering primary schools and junior secondary schools. With this update, Anambra State will provide full free education to all primary pupils, junior, and senior secondary school students.
Governor Soludo’s administration has made notable strides in education, including recruiting over 8,115 teachers and updating STEM education.
These efforts aim to enhance the quality of education and provide opportunities for the state’s youth.
