Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has refused to comment further on the allegations made by Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, regarding officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Correctional Services demanding N15 million to serve his prison term in a VIP section of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos.
When invited to brief the House of Reps Investigating Committee at the National Assembly, VeryDarkMan expressed frustration that Bobrisky wasn’t present to face the allegations. “I don’t know why I’m here if the person who made these allegations isn’t,” he said.
VeryDarkMan also referenced Bobrisky’s mention of a “godfather” in a voice note, suggesting that this individual may have influenced Bobrisky’s absence.
He emphasized that Bobrisky’s failure to appear disrespected the committee and stated, “If Bobrisky isn’t here, I won’t say anything. If I do, let me die.” Despite threats of arrest and detention, VeryDarkMan remained resolute in his stance.
The committee members attempted to persuade VeryDarkMan to speak, assuring him that Bobrisky would also face the panel. This development comes after Bobrisky alleged that he paid N15 million to drop money laundering charges and to serve his six-month jail term in a private apartment near the prison, sparking controversy and investigations.
The EFCC has initiated an investigation, and the Minister of Interior has ordered a probe into the allegations.
