The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of desperation ahead of the 2026 governorship election following a viral video involving a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain.
APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, condemned the PDP chieftain’s statement, which allegedly proposed bombing the INEC office and killing key officials to prevent the announcement of results.
“The PDP chieftain said, ‘It is the example of what the APC did in Edo State last week that we should replicate in Osun. If necessary, a covert plan should be made to station bomb-laced helicopters in Delta State to target the INEC office, where top officials, including the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the AIG, and Returning Officers, would be present,'” Olabisi stated.
Olabisi expressed shock at Governor Adeleke’s silence on the matter, implying complicity in the alleged plot. He urged the Inspector-General of Police to investigate.
Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, denied the allegations, calling them “irresponsible and unfounded.” Rasheed threatened a N5 billion libel suit against Olabisi if he fails to retract his statement.
Additionally, Rasheed accused the APC of making violent threats and boasting about plans to rig the 2026 polls on various media platforms.
Rasheed countered, “The Osun PDP enjoys overwhelming support from the people and will continue to deter any electoral malpractice. Governor Adeleke remains unfazed by these rantings.”
