Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has taken a significant step towards enhancing transparency and accountability in the state’s Hajj operations. He has approved the launch of an online registration portal for intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj operations, which will cater to both Muslim and Christian Pilgrims Boards.
This is aimed at ensuring that the process is open, transparent, and free from unnecessary personal interactions that may lead to malpractices.
According to Mr. Aderibigbe Rasheed, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Governor Adeleke is committed to accountability and transparency in government dealings.
“Mr Governor is concerned about accountability and transparency in government dealings and with his determination to ensure value for money expended by individuals or groups, hence the resolve minimizes personal contact with intending pilgrims registration,” he said.
The online registration platform will minimize direct contact between registration officials and intending pilgrims, thereby reducing the risk of corruption and ensuring value for money expended by individuals or groups.
To apply for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, interested individuals can visit muslimpilgrim.osunstate.gov.ng for Muslim pilgrims and christianpilgrim.osunstate.gov.ng for Christian pilgrims.
This online platform is expected to make the registration process more efficient and less time-consuming, providing better value for money.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) also provides guidelines and regulations for Hajj operations in Nigeria. NAHCON’s guidelines outline the requirements for travel agencies, licensing, and accreditation, ensuring that all stakeholders comply with the regulatory framework.
