Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has declared Friday, October 4, a work-free day to enable citizens to participate in the October 5 local government elections.
This announcement was made through a statement by Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, which was shared with the News Agency of Nigeria in Makurdi.
According to Governor Alia, the work-free day is intended to allow voters to travel to their respective local government areas and exercise their right to vote. He emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process, encouraging all citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to fulfill their civic duty.
Alia expressed confidence that with the right commitment and participation, the elections would be conducted smoothly and fairly.
He also urged public and private sector organizations to support the initiative by allowing their employees to participate.
To ensure a peaceful and collaborative electoral process, the governor charged citizens to prioritize harmony and unity among all parties involved.
