The Action Peoples Party (APP) has secured a landslide victory in the Rivers State local government elections, winning 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats.
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) announced the results, with Chairman Justice Adolphus Enebeli declaring APP’s triumph in 22 Local Government Areas.
According to Enebeli, the results for Etche Local Government Area and 319 councillorship positions are pending due to ongoing collation.
The election, which took place across 6,866 units in the state, saw participation from 18 political parties.
Enebeli commended the political parties and Rivers people for their commitment to the election, describing the process as smooth, safe, free, fair, credible, and transparent. Despite some violent incidents, the polls were conducted successfully.
