Fatima Abubakar, a 37-year-old woman from Yola South Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.
The police investigation, confirmed by spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that the children were subjected to abuse after they had accidents in the house, urinating and defecating inside.
Nguroje stated that Fatima physically assaulted a two-year-old girl and a young boy, who are her husband’s children.
Neighbours reported a history of maltreatment by Fatima, including withholding food from the children and warning others not to intervene in her affairs.
Fatima was taken into custody on Saturday and subsequently confessed to the crimes.
Commissioner of Police Morris Dankombo has ordered that she be charged to court.
