Auwal Danladi Sankara, Jigawa State’s Commissioner of Special Duties, has been arrested by Kano State Hisbah command operatives for alleged adultery with a married woman.
The commissioner was caught in an uncompleted building, reportedly owned by him, after the woman’s husband, Nasir Bulama, filed a complaint with the Hisbah command and other security agencies.
An anonymous Hisbah official revealed that Bulama suspected Sankara of having an affair with his wife, the mother of his two children.
Following intense surveillance, operatives caught Sankara and the woman on Thursday night. Upon seeing the operatives and her husband, the woman attempted to flee, damaging her vehicle and hitting the gate.
Sankara confessed to having an affair with the woman at least three times, according to the Hisbah source. The command plans to charge them to court after completing the investigation.
Hisbah Director General Abba Sufi confirmed Sankara’s arrest and detention, stating that they have had issues with him due to his alleged operation of illicit drug centers disguised as hotels, promoting prostitution and drug addiction.
Sufi announced that Sankara will face prosecution on Monday at a competent court of law. The arrested woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, was found with Sankara in the uncompleted building.
