A Kano State High Court has set November 20 to hear all pending applications in the ongoing case against Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and seven others.
The defendants face an eight-count charge filed by the state government, alleging bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of billions of naira in public funds.
Ganduje, his wife Hafsat Umar, and five others – Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited – are accused of involvement in the alleged financial misconduct.
During the recent proceedings, counsel for the plaintiff, Mr. Adeola Adedipe, expressed readiness to proceed, mentioning that a witness had traveled from Lagos to attend the hearing.
However, counsel for the first, second, and fourth defendants, Mr. Offiong Offiong, requested an adjournment due to a lack of necessary documents.
Mr. Offiong stated, “We are not ready. We are asking for another date to move the application.”
Similarly, counsel for the third and seventh defendants, Mr. Taye Falola, noted they had not been served the documents and requested a new hearing date.
Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu emphasized the importance of proper service of documents, overruling the plaintiff’s request to proceed immediately. The judge then adjourned the case until November 20 for the hearing of all pending applications.
