The Lagos State Government has taken action against a residential property on Adedosu Street, Otubu, Agege, sealing it off due to its lack of proper toilet facilities.
The residential building in question, a bungalow with over 10 rooms, was found to have no sanitary toilet facilities. Instead, it had dilapidated pit latrines filled with exposed fecal matter, posing serious health risks.
Engr Adefemi Afolabi, General Manager of the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), led the compliance team that inspected the property. Afolabi emphasized that the state cannot afford another cholera outbreak, underscoring the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
“We cannot afford the occurrence of another cholera outbreak in the State,” Afolabi stated, urging residents to prioritize sanitation and hygiene to protect public health and the environment.
