Former US President Barack Obama recently opened up about the “somewhat inappropriate” advances he received from women during his presidency.
In an interview on The Pivot Podcast, Obama shared his experiences with podcast hosts and former NFL players Channing Crowder, Ryan Clark, and Fred Taylor.
Crowder initiated the conversation, joking about how his own attractiveness increased after being drafted into the NFL.
“Do women be hollering at you and stuff, like on the fact that, because you’re a good-looking dude, but now you’re ‘President Good Looking Dude?'” he asked, eliciting laughter.
Obama humorously responded, “First of all, I don’t know if Michelle’s going to be watching this,” referring to his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama.
He acknowledged that his age and life experience helped him navigate the attention.
“By the time people really knew who I was, I was 43 years old. I was married, had two kids, had gone grocery shopping, had washed my car. I was a regular guy in that sense.”
Obama admitted that some women acted inappropriately, citing instances where they grabbed his butt while he was president. However, he remained unfazed, attributing his stability to his strong partnership with Michelle and the influence of their daughters, Malia and Sasha.
“My wife is such an extraordinary woman, such an amazing partner, that you just try to stay focused, stay on the straight and narrow. And also, look, kids change your life. The idea of disappointing your kids is something that, I ain’t going there.”
Obama’s humility and commitment to his family shone through in the conversation. Married to Michelle since 1992, the couple’s daughters were 10 and 7 when they moved into the White House after his 2008 victory..
