Lawyers Withdraw Representation of Assaulted Abuja Bolt Driver

Lawyers representing Stephen Abuwatseye, the Abuja Bolt driver assaulted by House of Representative member Alex Ikwechegh, have withdrawn from the case.
Deji Adeyanju and Partners cited the need to protect their professional integrity and maintain ethical standards in the legal profession.
The incident occurred when Abuwatseye delivered a package to Ikwechegh’s residence in Maitama, Abuja. A video of the assault went viral, showing Ikwechegh slapping and insulting Abuwatseye. Ikwechegh later apologized for his actions, admitting they fell short of the standards expected of a public official.

Ikwechegh was arraigned at a Kuje Magistrate Court and granted bail. However, in a surprising turn of events, Abuwatseye recently apologized to Ikwechegh, calling for unity among Nigerians.
In a statement, Deji Adeyanju and Partners explained their decision: “We wish to formally announce the withdrawal of our legal representation… After careful consideration, we made this decision to protect our professional integrity and maintain the highest ethical standards.”
