The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has successfully negotiated a deal with Dangote Refinery to purchase petroleum products directly.
Abubakar Garima, IPMAN’s National President, made the announcement on Monday following a crucial meeting with the National Working Committee in Abuja.
Garima revealed that the agreement encompasses the direct supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) to IPMAN’s depots and retail outlets.
“We’re pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery has agreed to supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail outlets,” Garima stated after a productive meeting with Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group.
Garima expressed optimism that the partnership would yield favorable pricing for IPMAN members. He emphasized the importance of supporting Dangote Refinery, citing the benefits of backward integration and the positive impact on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
Regarding Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Garima disclosed that IPMAN is gearing up for a seamless transition to CNG refill stations nationwide, as negotiations with the Presidential CNG Initiative are underway.
According to sources, Dangote Refinery pledged to commence supplying products to over 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets across the country.
Previously, IPMAN had expressed frustration over difficulties in lifting products from Dangote Refinery, but the refinery had refuted these claims.
