Governor Oyebanji Appoints Justice Ogunmoye as Ekiti’s Acting Chief Judge

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has sworn in Justice Lekan Ogunmoye as the acting Chief Judge, following the passing of Justice Oyewole Adeyeye on November 4, 2024.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Ado Ekiti, was a solemn affair, with Oyebanji emphasizing the need to sustain judicial services and prevent a vacuum.
Oyebanji congratulated Justice Ogunmoye on his new role, urging him to leverage his competence, dedication, and professionalism to further develop the justice sector.
“I have no doubt about your competency and leadership acumen; I charge you to lead the judiciary during this moment of transition with humility, brotherly solidarity, and experience,” Oyebanji stated.
He also advised Ogunmoye to reflect deeply on the oath he took, committing to discharge his duties to the best of his ability and faithfulness, in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.
The governor took a moment to pay tribute to the late Justice Adeyeye, describing him as a “rare gem, perfect gentleman, and epitome of judicial integrity” who dedicated his life to upholding the rule of law and ensuring access to justice.
Adeyeye’s legacy, Oyebanji noted, will never be forgotten, particularly his contributions to the development of justice in Ekiti State.
Justice Ogunmoye thanked Oyebanji for the appointment and pledged to dispense fair and timely justice for the state’s sustained development.
He acknowledged the judiciary’s maximum cooperation and support under Oyebanji’s administration and sought further collaboration to continue his predecessors’ impressive legacies and ensure prompt justice delivery. Additionally, Ogunmoye solicited government support to transition the justice system from analogue to digital and improve workers’ welfare.
