The late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, was laid to rest in Abuja.
The event took place at the National Military Cemetery in the nation’s capital, concluding two days of funeral rites. These rites commenced in Lagos before moving to Abuja for the final farewell.
Lagbaja’s journey to his final resting place began with a series of commemorative activities. A funeral service was held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
His casket, adorned in Nigeria’s symbolic green and white colors, arrived at the National Cemetery in a white funeral hearse around 3 p.m. The burial ceremony was for two hours.
At exactly 4:41 p.m., the casket was gently lowered into the ground.
Attendees, included top military officials, family members, and dignitaries.
Preceding the burial, a service of songs was held at the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.
This event, attended by senior military officers and close associates, celebrated the life and legacy of the late COAS.
The late General’s body, transported with full military honors, arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Thursday via a Nigerian Air Force aircraft.
