The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirmed the release of its officers who were kidnapped in Delta State.
The officers were abducted on Thursday night, a few miles from the NDLEA’s head office, located off the Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Mr. John Kennedy, the spokesperson for the NDLEA’s Delta State Command, confirmed their release in a statement on Monday in Asaba.
He stated that the officers regained their freedom on Sunday night after significant pressure from the NDLEA and other law enforcement agencies.
Kennedy clarified that contrary to initial reports, the senior officer had not been abducted along with his orderly, as was previously claimed.
Instead, the senior officer was taken in a separate incident, and another officer was abducted in a completely different location.
While Kennedy praised the collaborative efforts of various sister agencies that contributed to the safe return of the officers, he declined to comment on whether any ransom had been paid for their release.
The officers were kidnapped after work hours, around 8:00 pm, when the assailants ambushed them.
