The Super Falcons of Nigeria, nine-time champions of Africa, touched down in the city of Angers, France, on Wednesday in preparation for their much-awaited international friendly match against the French national team, Les Bleues.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, 30th November 2024.
This is the second time that Nigeria and France will face off in a friendly. The last encounter occurred on April 6, 2018, when the Super Falcons suffered a humbling 8-0 defeat at Le Mans’ Stade Marie-Marvingt.
Interestingly, only two players from that 2018 squad are part of the current roster: goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays professionally in France, and defender Osinachi Ohale, who plies her trade in Mexico.
Speaking ahead of the game, a team official remarked, “This is not just about winning; it’s about building a team that can compete with the very best on the global stage. Matches like these are crucial for exposing our players to the highest levels of competition.”
