Gunmen Abduct Catholic Priest on Enugu Road Despite Heavy Security Presence

Reverend Father Gerald Ohaeri, a Catholic priest serving at Isienu Nsukka Parish under the Nsukka Catholic Diocese, has reportedly been abducted while traveling along the Ugwuogo Nike-Opi Nsukka Expressway in Enugu State.

The priest was abducted on Saturday as he was returning from an event in Enugu.

As of Tuesday evening, sources confirmed that Father Ohaeri remains in captivity, with efforts ongoing to secure his release. Authorities have intensified their search for the priest, but his whereabouts remain unknown.

“This is a time of deep distress for our community,” a member of the Isienu Nsukka Parish stated. “Father Ohaeri has been a source of inspiration and guidance to many, and we are praying for his safe return. We appeal to the government and security agencies to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to rescue him.”
