Kristen Stevens was allegedly stabbed by her estranged boyfriend, James Christopher Lindsey, up to 70 times in Florida on Friday, December 6 resulting in her tragic death.
According to reports from WESH, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call on Friday, December 6.
The caller, who was reportedly stabbed in the leg, claimed that he had attempted to defend Stevens, who was also stabbed.
The caller then ran to a neighbor’s house for help.
Upon arrival, police discovered Stevens’ 16-year-old son, who was asleep during the incident.
Stevens was found on her bedroom floor with severe injuries, including “between 20 and up to 70” stab wounds.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office identified Lindsey, Stevens’ estranged boyfriend and father of her son, as the assailant.
Deputies discovered that Lindsey had fled the scene and was involved in a single-vehicle car crash, which resulted in his death.
Sheriff Dennis Lemma expressed his condolences, stating, “This is a heartbreaking and traumatic incident that will have a lasting impact on families and a community… I am proud of our deputies’ quick response to the scene and our detectives who have been working around the clock to put these cases together. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Our team will continue to work diligently to uncover the full details surrounding this case.”
Reports indicate that Lindsey and Stevens had an 18-year history of domestic violence, with the most recent incident occurring on November 6. Lindsey was arrested but later released from jail.
The man who reported the incident is expected to make a full recovery.
