FIFA has officially announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup.
This was confirmed during a virtual FIFA Congress on Wednesday.
The Saudi bid for the 2034 tournament was uncontested, securing widespread support, including endorsements from the English, Scottish, and Welsh Football Associations.
The process leading to this decision has drawn scrutiny, as FIFA combined the voting for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups into a single action, leaving delegates with an all-or-nothing choice between the bids.
FIFA confirmed that the 2030 World Cup will be hosted jointly by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with the tournament’s opening three matches taking place in South America.
