On December 13, 2024, troops from the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, received a distress call regarding bandit activities in Manzala village, Yorro Local Government Area.
The troops mobilized to the location and successfully rescued three kidnapped victims.
According to Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, the rescued victims have been reunited with their families.
In addition to the rescue operation, troops conducted fighting patrols around mountainous terrains, identifying flashpoints in Ardo-Kola and Yorro Local Government Areas.
On December 12, 2024, troops encountered an ongoing robbery incident near Kasuwan Shanu in Takum town. Their intervention led to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, commended the troops’ bravery, professionalism, and swift response. He assured the public that the Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, and encouraged residents to continue supporting the troops by providing credible information to assist in the fight against criminal elements.
