A nursing mother, Blessing Ibuku, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly murdering her 10-month-old child, Prevail Jonathan.
According to the police, Blessing confessed to throwing her baby into the river on November 31, 2024, after her friends and other girls mocked her, saying the child didn’t have a father.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, revealed this information at a press briefing in Asaba on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
He explained that a case of a missing 10-month-old child named Prevail was reported to the police on December 4, 2024. While investigating, the police received a call that a child was found floating at the Aviara community river.
Upon bringing the deceased child to the station, it was confirmed to be the body of the missing child. According to CP Olufemi, Blessing confessed that she threw the baby away due to the mockery she faced from her friends and other girls. The police stated that the suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
