Chance the Rapper’s nearly six-year marriage to Kirsten Corley has come to an end, as Corley filed for divorce on December 13, according to court records.
The Grammy-winning rapper and his estranged wife, share two daughters, Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5.
In April, the former couple announced their separation in a joint statement shared on their respective social media accounts.
“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways,” the statement read.
They also declared their commitment to co-parenting, stating, “We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together.”
Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, met Corley at one of his mother’s office parties when they were both around 9 years old. After they began dating, they welcomed Kensli in 2015. According to court documents, Corley filed a petition asking that Chance be declared the father and ordered to pay child support.
The pair eventually reconciled and tied the knot in a lavish 2019 wedding in Newport Beach, California, with a star-studded guest list including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, as well as Dave Chappelle.
Prior to the oceanfront affair, they wed in a civil ceremony in December 2018.
In 2020, Chance expressed his gratitude for his family life, stating, “I’ve been waking up daily with a newfound gratitude and being very grateful that I’m married right now… The fact that me, my daughters, and my wife all live in one house together is a huge, huge blessing, so I’ve just been taking that in.”
