A rare and mysterious condition has caused a 19-year-old Canadian woman’s breast size to increase from a B cup to a triple G cup, within six months of receiving the Pfizer Covid vaccine.
The woman, who has chosen to remain anonymous, received her first dose of the vaccine in September 2022 and noticed that her breasts began to tingle and grow slightly. However, it wasn’t until after she received her second dose three weeks later that the growth became more rapid and pronounced.
By the time she sought medical attention six months later, her breasts had grown to an extreme size, causing her significant discomfort and distress.
Doctors at the University of Toronto diagnosed her with pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia (PASH), a rare and benign breast condition characterized by an overgrowth of cells.
While PASH has been documented in fewer than 200 cases worldwide since its discovery in 1986, this case is unique in that it appears to be linked to the Covid vaccine. However, experts caution that the connection between the vaccine and the woman’s condition cannot be proven conclusively.
Researchers have suggested that Covid vaccines may trigger an immune response leading to temporarily swollen lymph nodes, which can cause the breasts to appear larger. However, this is the first reported case of PASH-associated gigantomastia (extreme breast growth) linked to a vaccine.
The woman underwent breast reduction surgery 11 months after her initial vaccination, which reduced her breast size to a double D cup. However, her breasts are now asymmetrical, and she is considering further surgery to correct this.
Experts emphasize that adverse reactions to Covid vaccines are extremely rare and that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the potential risks.
