The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Subomi and Wahab, the sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, for questioning over alleged abuse of the naira.
A viral video online, showed the Okoya brothers mishandling the Nigerian currency.
The police officer featured in the video has been identified and detained by the Nigeria Police Force.
This caused a certain amount of outrage on social media over the delay in arresting the two brothers.
Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju expressed his frustration on Facebook, stating, “The Okoya sons are above the law. A country of two laws — one for the poor and the other for the rich.”
However, the EFCC has taken action, inviting the two sons to report to the head of the Special Operations team at the EFCC office on 15A Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, January 13, 2025, for interrogation. Michael Wetkas, the acting director of the Lagos Directorate of the EFCC, signed the invitation.
