The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has explained the recent power outage affecting various areas within the Federal Government Territory.
According to the Disco, the blackout is attributed to a fault on the 132-kilovolt lines 182, which run from the Katampe to AT5 Central Area Transmission Station.
In a statement released on Friday via its official X account, AEDC disclosed that the affected areas include the Federal Secretariat, Wuse Zone 1-7, Central Mosque, Energy Commission, Transcorp Hotel, Eagle Square, Yar’adua Centre, and the entire Central Area.
Additionally, the power outage has impacted the TCN HQ, CAC HỌ, NYSC HO, INEC, the entire Maitama, Kado Estate, parts of Jabi District, Area 7, 8 & 10 Garki, and its environs.
AEDC stated, “This is to inform residents around Federal Secretariat, Wuse Zone 1-7, Central Mosque, Energy Commission, Transcorp Hotel, Eagle Square, Yar’adua Centre, the entire Central Area, TCN HQ, CAC HỌ, NYSC HO, INEC, the entire Maitama, Kado Estate, parts of Jabi District, Area 7, 8 & 10 Garki, and its environs that the power outage being experienced is due to a fault on the 132kV lines 182 from Katampe to AT5 Central Area Transmission Station.”
“The TCN team is currently investigating the cause of the outage and will ensure that power supply is restored as quickly as possible,” the statement reads.
AEDC had announced a two-week power disruption in parts of Abuja and Nasarawa State, due to the relocation of TCN’s 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers.
