James Vowels has certainly proved himself across the Mercedes team and has been entrusted by Williams to be it’s team principal, James brings more to the table even if He hasn’t lead a team before.
He is a computer science graduate, he also has an engineering Masters so he will be able to join the team in making Mercedes formula 1 cars faster and better.
If Vowels does well, he might even someday be replaced as other racing teams like Ferrari will want him on their team.
