Nigeria Gets New Chief Justice: Kekere-Ekun Confirmed

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been confirmed as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria.

She will be sworn in by the President of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday, 23rd August, 2024 the State House Council Chambers.

She is the fifth female justice to serve on Nigeria’s Supreme Court and has had a long and distinguished career in law .

She was born in London, England, and received her law degree from the University of Lagos in 1980.

She has served as a Senior Magistrate, a Judge of the High Court of Lagos State, and as a Justice of the Court of Appeal, before being elevated to the Supreme Court in 2013.
