The Super Eagles of Nigeria faced off against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on September 9 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, marking their first match in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.
Interestingly, both teams are also set to clash in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and their previous encounter in June saw Benin secure a 2-1 victory in Abidjan.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles kicked off their AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign in impressive style, securing a resounding victory against Benin at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
The Super Eagles secured a win against Benin with the match ending 3 – 0.
Ademola Lookman scored the first goal at an added time to halftime, Victor Osimhen scored the second goal in the 78th minute, and Ademola Lookman scored the third goal in the 83rd minute.
Nigerians have since taken to social media to applaud and celebrate the team’s win.
