The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has pledged to arrest and bring to justice the perpetrators of the recent attack in Okuama, Delta State, which resulted in the death of 17 military officers and soldiers.
The CDS made this statement during a media briefing after a joint security meeting in Abuja.
General Musa emphasized that the military will relentlessly pursue the killers, no matter how long it takes.
He drew parallels with the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, noting that it may take time, but the perpetrators will eventually be brought to justice.
The CDS also mentioned that the Defence Headquarters is reviewing operations in the North West Zone to achieve better synergy and results.
The various operations will be harmonized under a single commander for increased effectiveness.
General Musa highlighted the challenges of asymmetric warfare, where non-state actors are involved.
He stressed the importance of community support in combating such threats, as the military faces difficulties in identifying and targeting enemy combatants who blend in with the local population.
