Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has appointed his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, as the Acting First Lady following the passing of his wife, Pastor Patience Eno.
This was made known during a condolence visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and other dignitaries in Uyo.
Governor Eno expressed his confidence in his daughter’s ability to carry forward his late wife’s work, particularly the Golden Initiative For All. He emphasized that Helen will work closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare to ensure the continuity of the office.
In an emotional tribute, Governor Eno described his late wife as his “greatest supporter and toughest critic,” recalling their lifelong bond. He assured the people of Akwa Ibom that his late wife’s initiatives would continue, with Helen leading the way in preserving her mother’s vision.
Mrs. Tinubu praised the governor’s decision, expressing confidence in Helen’s ability to excel. She offered words of encouragement, saying, “You will accomplish even more than your mother, and God will grant you good health.”
Addressing rumors about remarrying, Governor Eno humorously dismissed the idea, stating, “I’m not considering remarrying anytime soon. I don’t have the money to pay another bride price.”
Governor Eno’s leadership has been reaffirmed by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Appeal Court, dismissing petitions against his election.
