The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 34-year-old suspect, Nwokpoku Emmanuel, from Ebonyi State, in connection with a case of armed robbery and kidnapping.
The suspect, who resides in Oduke-Obosi, was taken into custody by the police operatives, who also recovered the victim’s red Mercedes Benz GLE 450.
According to reports, the victim was kidnapped in a neighboring state and was later released after a ransom of N15 million was paid to the abductors.
However, the kidnappers made off with the victim’s vehicle, which was subsequently tracked and recovered by the police at MCC Junction, Onitsha.
The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, stating that the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed immediate action to arrest the gang leader, known as Ebuka.
Ikenga assured that the Command will continue to develop operational strategies to improve safety in the state.
The police are now focusing on apprehending the remaining gang members, particularly the leader, Ebuka.
