Andrew Strauss tackles bullying in cricket

Cricket Administrator Andrew Strauss spoke on the bullying In the Men’s Cricket locker room, in a forum he had this say while speaking at the MCC Calgary lecture to the events that happened at Yorkshire.

“The spirit of cricket in the accompany modern players and I’m speaking primarily about men’s game now to an area that the prying eyes of the media or the feverish adulation of the fans penetrates and that is the dressing room.”

He further added;

“As we move forward as a game with players of different gender, races, creed and beliefs coming together, so the traditional hierarchical and at times verging on bullying dressing room banter of yesteryear will need to be softened to a culture that is tolerant, understanding, welcoming and embracing of difference. The events over the last 18 months whether they come Yorkshire or elsewhere has shown that we’ve got a lot of work to do in this area.”
