APC Kicks Off Local Government Election Campaign in Kogi State

The All Progressive Congress (APC) launched its election campaign for the upcoming local government elections on Thursday, marking the beginning of an intense political period ahead of the October 19 polls.
The event was held at the modern Muhammad Buhari Civil Center in Lokoja, the state capital, and was attended by a large crowd of party enthusiasts, supporters, and stakeholders.
Kogi state Governor, Ahmed Ododo, delivered a keynote speech, assuring a level playing field for all participating political parties and adequate security during the elections.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
Governor Ododo highlighted the numerous accomplishments of his administration, which he believed have positively impacted the lives of the people.
He stressed that his team has laid the foundation for the victory of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for making security a top priority of his administration, which has resulted in the peace being enjoyed in Kogi state.
He encouraged the people to support the president’s efforts to reposition the economy of the country, assuring them that the current hardship will soon be a thing of the past.
Governor Ododo appealed to the people to vote for APC candidates on October 19, emphasizing that the party cares about the welfare of the state’s people and will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to them.

“The party cares about the welfare of the people of the state. I urged you therefore to work for the candidates that will utilize your resources to work for you and those are the candidates of our party the APC, ” he said.
In his welcome address, the chairman of APC in the state advised members and supporters to engage in door-to-door campaigns to garner more support for the party’s candidates. 
He expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning all the chairmanship positions, citing the APC’s impressive performance in the state.
Representatives from the three districts, Ibrahim Ahovi, Matthew Kolawole, and Hon. Comfort Egwuaba, delivered speeches, assuring total votes from their areas.
They emphasized that there is no opposition in the state, making it easier for the APC to campaign.
Egwuaba particularly noted that the inclusion of women in the party’s leadership and the administration of Governor Ododo has made the campaign easier.
Earlier, the chairman of the APC local government campaign committee, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, praised the governor’s performance, stating that it has simplified their job by over 90%.
He highlighted the governor’s achievements in agriculture, infrastructural development, payment of salaries to state and local government workers, and other areas, which will be a focus of the campaign.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of flags to the 21 chairmanship candidates of the party, symbolizing their official recognition as APC flag bearers.
Additionally, Arct. Salman Idris, a member representing Kabba/Bunu Federal constituency in the National Assembly, defected from the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) to the APC, along with his supporters.
He was presented with the party flag and the broom, which the governor said is the symbol of the APC.
