Army Chief Lagbaja Affirms Military’s Commitment to Democracy, Rules Out Coup Against Tinubu’s Government

Army Chief, Lt. Gen Lagbaja, Reiterates Military’s Commitment to Democracy
In his address at the COAS Combined 2nd and 3rd Quarters Conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Lt. Gen Taoreed Lagbaja emphasized the Nigerian Army’s dedication to democratic governance and national security.
He stated that the military will not be used to undermine democracy or serve personal interests.
Lagbaja highlighted the Army’s progress in:
  • Enhancing its image over the past 25 years
  • Receiving government support for modernization and welfare programs
  • Addressing food security challenges through agricultural initiatives and partnerships
  • Strengthening operations with new combat enablers
He announced plans to:
  • Review and boost agricultural production through Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited
  • Collaborate with government agencies and private organizations to resolve food crises
  • Establish a new Army base in Akwa Ibom State with support from the state government
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State commended Lagbaja’s leadership and assured support for the Army’s initiatives in the state.
