A couple had a miraculous escape in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, after a large container fell off a trailer and crushed their parked car.
This happened on Thursday, November 28, 2024, near Ogbomoso High School.
According to eyewitness accounts, the couple had just parked their vehicle and stepped out to purchase items from a roadside vendor when the accident unfolded.
“It was a narrow escape,” an eyewitness told Ogbomoso Insight. “The couple had only just parked their car and gotten down to buy some items at the side of a metal scrap yard. Moments later, the trailer’s container toppled onto their car. Thankfully, no one was inside the vehicle at the time.”
The trailer, bearing the registration number Nasarawa JZ 101 ZA, was reportedly attempting to avoid a head-on collision with a bus traveling in the opposite direction. According to witnesses, the bus driver was distracted, using his mobile phone while driving, which forced the trailer driver into a sudden evasive maneuver.
“It was while the trailer driver tried to avoid hitting the bus that he lost control, slipped into a ditch, and the container fell directly onto the parked car,” another witness explained.
Photos from the accident scene depict the couple’s car completely flattened under the massive weight of the container.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
