Delta State Police Command’s Special Assignment Team has successfully neutralized two suspected kidnappers in an operation along Ewheru-Patani Road in Ughelli Local Government Area.
According to SP Bright Edafe, the state’s Public Relations Officer, the operatives acted on credible intelligence and stormed the criminal hideouts on October 28 at 19:48.
However, the suspected kidnappers ambushed the security team, leading to a gun battle.
Two of the kidnappers sustained bullet injuries and were taken to the General Hospital in Ughelli, where they were confirmed dead.
The police recovered one Beretta pistol with two live rounds and one AK-47 rifle with six live rounds from the hideouts. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly responsible for terrorizing the Warri-Sapele road, Mosogar axis, and some killings in Oghara and Ughelli.
The Delta State Police Command is continuing its investigation into the matter.
