Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has announced the suspension of two commissioners and other high-ranking officials for alleged misconduct and neglect of duty.
The announcement was delivered on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jude Chikadibia-Okpor.
He confirmed the indefinite suspension of the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engineer Francis Ori. Additionally, the Commissioner for Health and Social Development, Dr. Moses Ekuma, has been handed a three-month suspension.
The disciplinary action extended further to other senior officials within the health sector. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, along with the Executive Secretaries of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the State Health Insurance Agency, were also placed on three-month suspensions.
To ensure the functioning of the Ministry of Health during this period, the governor directed his Special Assistant on Primary Health to take over the ministry’s activities. Chikadibia-Okpor emphasized that all affected officials are required to return government assets, including official vehicles, to the State Secretary of Government no later than Monday, November 25, 2024.
Recall that the Commissioner for Water Resources, Chinedum Nkah, was also earlier suspended indefinitely facing similar allegations of negligence.
