PDP Hails Appeal Court Judgement Affirming Ighodalo’s Eligibility as Victory for Edo People
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has celebrated the unanimous judgement of the Court of Appeal, which confirmed the eligibility of its gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, for the September 21, 2024, Edo State Governorship election.
In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, the PDP described the judgement as a resounding victory for the people of Edo State and a triumph of truth over the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) “lies, falsehood, and propaganda.”
The PDP noted that the Appeal Court’s pronouncement, which dismissed the litigation against Ighodalo as “bereft of merit” and based on “flawed assumptions,” validates the party’s position that the court cases against Ighodalo were “contrived, frivolous, and aimed at distracting” their candidate and the people of Edo State.
Ologunagba stated, “The APC was desperate to stop Dr. Asue Ighodalo with multiple court cases, knowing that its candidate, Monday Okpebholo, is no match for the PDP candidate at the polls.”
He added, “Today’s judgement has brought the APC to its knees and wit’s end. The APC, its candidate, and propaganda machine should counsel themselves; it’s not too late to withdraw from the race.”
The PDP commended the people of Edo State for their support and urged them to remain resolute and vigilant as they “coast to victory” on September 21, 2024.
