The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended a woman identified as Halima Yakubu Ngulde for her alleged involvement in an employment scam.
The arrest, which took place in the Unguwan Kanawa area of Kaduna State, followed a detailed investigation and credible intelligence linking her to fraudulent activities targeting job seekers.
Ngulde is accused of extorting money from individuals by falsely promising them employment opportunities in prominent government institutions, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and even the EFCC itself. According to investigators, the suspect preyed on the desperation of her victims, exploiting their hopes of securing stable jobs to illicitly obtain funds.
During the arrest, law enforcement officers recovered incriminating items that further implicated her in the alleged fraud. Among the seized items were fake EFCC letterhead papers, which she reportedly used to make her fraudulent activities appear legitimate, and multiple curriculum vitae belonging to her victims.
“This arrest is a testament to our resolve to protect unsuspecting citizens from fraudsters who take advantage of their trust and vulnerability,” an EFCC official stated. “The public must remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to individuals making too-good-to-be-true employment promises, particularly in government institutions.”
Authorities confirmed that Ngulde remains in custody while investigations into her alleged activities continue. She is expected to face formal charges in court once the investigation is concluded.
Several victims have already come forward, detailing how they were duped into parting with their hard-earned money.
Many expressed relief at Ngulde’s arrest and hope for justice, while others urged the EFCC to intensify efforts to recover the stolen funds and ensure that perpetrators of such crimes are held accountable.
