A 14-year-old boy, Tope Elela, was allegedly killed by his father, Elela Monday in Ajowa Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, Monday was arrested after an anonymous tip-off revealed that he had buried his son in a shallow grave under a banana tree behind their house.
Afolabi stated, “On the 30th of December, the police received an anonymous call that one Elela Monday living in Ajowa Akoko killed his 14-year-old son named Tope Elela and buried him in a shallow grave under a banana tree behind his house.”
Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed that Monday was among the suspected criminals recently apprehended by the state command.
During interrogation, Monday claimed that his son was involved in criminal activities, which brought shame to their family. He confessed that he and his wife decided to kill Tope to put an end to the embarrassment.
