A fire broke out at the Radio Nigeria building in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, November 27, engulfing a significant portion of the premises.
The blaze, which reportedly started around 5:30 p.m., targeted the studio section of the one-story structure and caused extensive damage.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) alerted the public about the incident through its official X account, cautioning motorists to avoid the area as emergency teams worked to contain the flames. LASTMA’s statement read:
“Ikoyi Fire Accident: Radio Nigeria is on fire, and firefighters are already on the ground to put out the fire. Meanwhile, all roads have been blocked, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.”
First responders, including firefighters from Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Oniru Fire Stations, were joined by the Federal Fire Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and other emergency response units to combat the inferno. Despite the intensity of the fire, authorities confirmed that no casualties had been reported as of the time of filing this report.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but officials have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine its origins.
