Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has opened up about his personal struggle with hearing loss, revealing that he unknowingly suffered a 25% hearing loss.
He shared this experience during a visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman-Adamu, on Sunday, October 20.
Obasanjo recounted how he was abroad and struggled to hear someone speaking to him, initially dismissing the issue. However, after a medical examination, he discovered the extent of his hearing loss.
“After my result came out, I had to ask the man to also check on my Chief Security Officer then, but shockingly enough, he was more deaf than I was,” Obasanjo said.
This personal experience inspired Obasanjo to create the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, which has partnered with Starkey Hearing Foundation to provide ear treatment and hearing aids to thousands of Nigerians.
