Gunmen Kill Over 15 in Benue State

Heavily armed gunmen, suspected to be herders, invaded Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 6:32 pm, and killed many people.
According to Joseph Anawah, a community leader from Anyiin, the attackers numbered over 20 and carried out a three-hour operation.
Anawah confirmed the incident, stating, “Terrorists yesterday, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, unleashed terror on Anyiin town, Logo LGA of Benue State, in an operation that started around 6:32 pm, leaving over 15 people dead, some with injuries, and others missing.”
The victims include a retired primary school supervisor, Orihundu Ati, and Zaki Mbatern, son of the Kindred Head of Mbawuave.
Also killed were the son of Tordoo Suswam, former Chief of Staff to the former Logo local government chairman, and the son of Mr. Uyange Chembe, younger brother of the late District Head of Ukemberagya, Zaki John Chembe.
Anawah, a former aide to former Governor Gabriel Suswam, expressed concern that the large number of invaders overwhelmed the security operatives stationed in the town. This attack is the second in October.
